So. Seth Rogen. Cuddly actor, been in some funny movies (Pineapple Express, Zach and Miri Make a Porno, Funny People) and some not-at-all funny movies (Seve and Protect). Mr. Rogen has been cast in the title role in the upcoming Green Hornet, in which Mr. Rogen lost 30 pounds, so he could have more of an “action/hero” look. What does he plan on doing now that the film is complete?
“Now that the movie’s over I hope to get fat again. Because I enjoy it.”
Cool story, dude.
Now, for a comparison, let’s look at the career of Gwyneth Paltrow. She’s been in a string of okay movies, and pretty much robbed Cate Blanchett of an Oscar (Sorry, but Shakespeare in Love just wasn’t that great). Her newest vanity project–ahem–film, is Country Strong, in which she plays a famous country singer, who is going on a comeback tour after a stint in rehab. Along with intensive vocal training (because they couldn’t find another tall blonde actress with singing skills?), Paltrow had the evil task of gaining weight for the movie, which evidently horrified her trainer, Ms. Tracy Andrson. After shootng wrapped, Paltrow had the grueling task of losing the 20 freakin pounds she gained for the movie May I also just mention that Paltrow is a very tall, very thin woman, and the extra weight only made her look slightly less thin? I honestly could not tell any difference between the photos taken from Iron Man 2 and from Country Strong.
Being an actor means lots of exhausting hours on a film set or in a rehearsal room. It’s important to eat and hydrate regularly, because otherwise you can get sick and exhausted. Can we please stop this one-sided fat hatred? Preferably before I graduate?
